Torax Plexus
2025
pasteles al oleo sobre madera pulida,
14 x 18 in.
Tórax Plexus (2025) began as an impulsive attempt to paint a self-image on my first wood panel. What emerged was an intentionally distorted interpretation of my appearance. While observing my reflection in the bathroom mirror, I recalled a recent dream that guided the work’s direction. In the dream, my body was in a state of deep relaxation, suspended in an undefined space. With my eyes closed, I sensed a vibration accompanied, perhaps generated, by a low, continuous sound. The frequency expanded gradually, reverberating through my entire mind in a steady, wave-like pattern.
The sensation moved like an electrical current along my spine, concentrating repeatedly at the center, or a bit lower, of my torax, close to the solar plexus. That is how the title was born. Each rhythmic pulse arrived with identical force, returning to the same point as if attempting to communicate something. This internal sequence became the conceptual foundation for the painting’s fragmented form and its focus on energetic flow within the body.
