El Caribe nunca ha sido manso (2026) interprets a historical moment, or several, in which foreigners colonized the region and islands of the Caribbean. Many of these aggressive encounters were based on religious, cultural and economic interests, displacing the Arawak communities during the late 1400s-1600s. With this painting, it shows an illustration that would portray an alternate angle from what is really told. A sinking ship can symbolize that the conqueror has finally felt the resistance and the fault, that they too can be struck.
