Agua Sagrada
2025
pintura al oleo y pasteles al oleo sobre lienzo,
17 x 31 in.
Agua Sagrada (2025) presents a symbolic landscape in which a house burns in an isolated valley, surrounded by sparse vegetation and an expanse of space that becomes as significant as the structure itself. In the foreground, a water well appears with a bucket, but instead of water it is filled with blood.
The burning house reflects a world in a state of constant pressure, where the search for relief or renewal is met with depletion. The blood-filled bucket stands as a metaphor for exhausted resources and the human cost behind that depletion labor, sacrifice, and the strain of surviving within a failing economic system. The work emphasizes the futility of trying to resolve crisis with what has already been damaged; a burning house cannot be extinguished with a bucket of blood. Within my broader practice, Agua Sagrada functions as a pivotal piece that intertwines landscape, symbolic imagery, and socio-emotional commentary.
